Staff Accountant Position

Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to join their client's dynamic team. This role is based in California and focuses on the day-to-day accounting operations with a strong emphasis on agricultural and farming activities. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with farm accounting, crop cost tracking, inventory management, and the seasonal financial cycles associated with operations.

Responsibilities:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for:

• Maintaining general ledger accounts and ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
• Performing monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
• Tracking and analyzing production costs, including labor, materials, fuel, equipment, and farming services.
• Managing inventory accounting related to, farming supplies, and harvest activities.
• Allocating costs by block, ranch, varietal, and season as required.
• Preparing and reconciling accounts payable and accounts receivable related to farming operations.
• Processing and reconciling payroll entries, including farm labor and seasonal workforce costs.
• Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for vineyard operations.
• Preparing schedules and supporting audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
• Ensuring compliance with GAAP and agricultural accounting standards.
• Collaborating with managers and operations teams to understand cost drivers and production data.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, with direct experience in agricultural accounting strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of crop cost accounting, harvest cycles, and agricultural inventory.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (agricultural or farm management systems a plus).
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities during peak harvest seasons.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of agricultural payroll practices and labor regulations.
• Familiarity with cost allocation by ranch, block, or varietal.
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.

Hourly: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
